Lucy and Andy’s wedding
{Wimborne Town Hall and No. 9}

Our family’s long awaited day arrived on 12th September with Earle’s lovely daughter Lucy and her long time boyfriend Andy getting married!  It’s difficult to write a blog for this stupendously wonderful day simply because we are of course completely and utterly biased about the elegance, beauty and love between these two amazing people….  suffice to say it was a very intimate wedding, very well thought out and superbly enjoyable with a particularly stunning bride and splendid groom.  Earle was a rather dapper Father of the Bride and of course suitably proud of his daughter and I am definitely the proudest step mother ever!

Luce and Andy no one in this entire world could be more delighted for you both than us, we hope you enjoy these blog images and the full gallery will be available this week.  Thank you for trusting me with your photography.  xx

Naomi and Lewis’ wedding
{Athelhampton House, Dorchester}

Naomi and Lewis’ wedding day at Athelhampton House was full of sunshine on the first day of September.  The whole area was buzzing with countryside shows, the Bournemouth Air Show and the Paralympics in Weymouth but the focus of everything around us was with Naomi and Lewis enjoying their day with family and friends which completely encompassed their love of the countryside.

Lewis and Earle met up at the family home in Corfe Mullen while I was with Naomi and some of her family at River Cottage in the grounds of Athelhampton House, a very quaint cottage in totally tranquil surroundings ideal on such a beautiful morning.  Earle arrived with Lewis and his party in plenty of time for the 2.00 pm ceremony, Naomi was ready in good time so once the registrars had popped in to check all the relevant details with Naomi the moment had come to walk across up the driveway to the house and be married!  Everyone enjoyed a beautiful ceremony with the pre wedding nerves melting away as the bride and groom stood together making their vows.  Jack (Lewis’ much loved cocker spaniel) was present, a very special guest in the front row, suitably dressed with a pink bow in his collar and behaving perfectly:-)

Back outside in the warmth of the afternoon sun a drinks reception was enjoyed as we completed the formal family group photographs before the wedding party retired for the wedding breakfast and speeches.  The evening light was soon upon us and at this time Naomi and Lewis were ready to take a walk around the grounds of Athelhampton for some photographs of just the two of them.  The band and DJ were all set up and the party kicked off as soon as Naomi and Lewis returned for their first dance and from that moment on the dance floor was full for the rest of the night!

It has been a wonderful day, Laura and her team at Athelhampton House were lovely to work with as always.  Earle and I send our warmest congratulations to Naomi and Lewis, wishing you many years of happiness together.

Isabel and Tom’s wedding
{Wimborne Minster and Deans Court, Wimborne}

Isabel and Tom’s wedding was right on our doorstep today in Wimborne Minster which offers such a very particular character and appeal and where Tom is a member of the choir.  Dean’s Court was a new venue to us also and what a perfect gem it is, an idyll hidden away from the general hubbub of Wimborne and yet just a stone’s throw from the Minster.   I caught up with Isabel at the hairdressers in Wimborne while Earle headed off to The Kings Head to meet Tom where he was getting ready with his family and groomsmen.  While the boys were occupied with their various morning last minute tasks Isabel and the girls walked from the hairdressers, home then just across the courtyard to the beauty salon before the final moments of getting into their beautiful wedding and bridesmaid dresses.

The Minster is just across the square from Isabel and Tom’s home and right on time Isabel is ready to walk across there with her father and bridesmaids.  Much of the music during the day was provided by Tom’s family and this added immensley to the personal influences of their beautiful wedding ceremony and matched the environment perfectly.

The much talked about July weather was promising to be kind and the sunshine was even beginning to show up!  We were able to complete the formal family photographs outside the Minster very quickly enabling the whole wedding party to make the short walk from the square across to Deans Court and the delightful reception in the house and tranquil gardens.  Everyone enjoyed the sunshine and relaxing in the sunshine for the afternoon before moving around to the marquee for the wedding breakfast and entertaining speeches.  Isabel and Tom joined us later in the evening as we took a stroll around the grounds to photograph just the two of them relaxing before the first dance and partying alongside the fantastic west country, cider drinking band…The Skimmity Hitchers.

A wonderful day all round, massive congratulations to  Isabel and Tom!  Thank you for your hospitality and also to Jonathan for the welcome you offered us at Deans Court.  We hope you enjoy the selection of images here, please feel free to add a comment, all you need to do is click on the box.

Michelle and Paul’s wedding
St Marks Bournemouth & Canford Magna Golf Club

The sun is shining and we are off to the lovely local wedding of Michelle and Paul.  I met Michelle some years ago now through our mutual wedding clients.  Michelle meets many photographers in her capacity as  hairstylists/makeup artist for weddings so we were particularly delighted to be chosen to photograph their very special day.  Their ceremony at St Marks Church in Bournemouth followed by the wedding reception at Canford Magna Golf Club went seamlessly with everywhere looking beautifully decorated with the flowers supplied by Michelle’s very best friend Tracey of Southbourne Florist.  We had the most fantabulous time with Michelle and Paul on the beach later in the day capturing some stunning images loving all the offshore breeze and active skies.

Bryony and Justin’s wedding
Canford Magna Church, Wimborne

Everything had been planned down to the finest detail for Bryony and Justin’s wedding day on Monday 20th December 2010, everything except for Dorset being covered in the thickest blanket of snow it had seen since the wheel was square.  Luckily Bryony, Justin and their families are made of stern stuff and refused to be totally thwarted even though the roads we all had to use to reach Canford Magna Church were in the most part gridlocked.  Emergency Plan X,Y and Z were put into place and their marriage ceremony was going to take place at some point as near to the original time of 12.30 as humanly possible and we were only to be at the church as so much else had to be abandoned.

To be part of a real team of people who were all working towards the same goal was a terrific.  Someone from the Church had been in early to clear the path and put the heating on, Cecil (who was conducting the ceremony) and his wife arrived around the same time as us even some of the bell ringers made it!  Eventually we saw one or two of the guests trudging through the snow, people were lighting the many, many candles lining the aisle and decorating the windows,  then Justin and his parents arrived in a Landrover and soon afterwards his beautiful bride and her family and bridesmaids were heading towards the church.

The number of guests who were able to reach Canford Magna had plumeted from around 140 to perhaps around 30 – 40 but the greeting the bridal party received upon their arrival was perfect as they removed their wellies just inside the door!  The beaming smiles from Bryony and Justin warmed everyones hearts as she walked up the aisle – the important and heartfelt moments about to take place between them had been hard fought for that day.  The organist had not been able to reach the church but not even that was to worry us all, we were on a roll…… three beautiful hymns were sang extraordinarily heartily with no musical assistance.

With the formalities of the register signing completed the new Mr and Mrs Gordon-Farleigh walked down the aisle together totally triumphant.  We completed a very few formal photographs in the church just as requested before our day was done, perhaps the finale was Earle appearing in the organ loft doing a magnificent impression of  ‘The Phantom’ while we prepared everyone there for a group photograph.

Earle and I have so much admiration for how everyone coped today and the sheer determination everyone shared to enable Bryony and Justin to be married but we have a particular admiration for Bryony and Justin themselves, they were nothing short of amazing.  Hairstylist Mel from Reeves and Gallagher managed to make the journey to Bryony’s family home to take care of all the girls and Sharon of Carnival Flowers also battled against the snow and treacherous roads to deliver all the required flowers at the various locations… two really terrific girls.  We   sincerely look forward to seeing everyone again plus those who could not be there when another and very full celebration is planned later in the year.

Lucy and Alex’s wedding
(Canford Magna Church and The Lord Bute)

Following a week of carefully watching the weather forecast it was with a very happy heart we headed off to meet Lucy and Alex at their respective locations with the sky and roads free of rain and the expectation of the day remaining dry.  Lucy was with her bridesmaids and Mum at MalcolmtinaBarker hairdressers where I was to meet them and Robyn Vallender of Folio who was taking care of Lucy’s makeup.  All the girls were soon ready to move along to Lucy’s childhood home in Merley to grab a bite to eat andhelp each other into their dresses before the wedding car arrived.

Earle had made his way over to Alex at home before he left for the pub and a quick drink with his family and some friends before everyone started arriving at Canford Magna Church.  With everyone in place Lucy arrived with her Dad right on time with the church bells ringing out loudly setting an idyllic scene.  Canford Church is always lovely to photograph in and with Lucy and Alex beaming at each other throughout the entire ceremony the picture was complete!  It seemed no time at all before Lucy and Alex were walking back down the aisle and out of the church as a very happy Mr and Mrs North.  We were pleased to have a moment for some photographs of Lucy and Alex having a quiet moment together in the serene and peaceful surroundings of the church before leaving for The Lord Bute  in Highcliffe and their wedding celebrations.

Following a relaxed drinks reception and receiving line everyone was seated and ready for the speeches and a lovely meal.  By early evening Lucy and Alex were ready to take a trip with us to the beach for those extra special photographs of just the two of them that they had been looking forward to.  It was blowing an unexpected gale on the coastline but they were total heros and were determined not to be thwarted so off we went down onto the beach and some stunningly atmospheric photographs of our very happy couple!  Lucy’s dear sister Alice, was on hand upon our return to The Lord Bute to recover Lucy’s beautifully styled hair and here I must compliment Tina on how well Lucy’s hair did cope with the blustery conditions and her long veil did not budge an inch!!!!  With Lucy looking completely refreshed and radiant as ever and Alex by her side the night’s party was ready to start, only then did the rain arrive, after dark and with everyone busy partying did anyone worry one jot?  I think not!!!!

A brilliant day, Earle and I send our warmest congratulations to a wonderful couple, we look forward to you having your full set of images to enjoy very soon but for now here is a selection of a few of our favourites from your wedding.  Our comments button likes loads of exercise so please click on it and join in on our blog.
