Tara and Dapo’s wedding
{St John’s The Evangilist, Porchester Hall, Bayswater}

Last Saturday was another trip up the motorway to London and this time it was to photograph Tara and Dapo’s wedding and lively celebrations.  The morning began with Earle dropping me off with Tara in north London to photograph her preparations with her bridesmaids while Earle made his way south again to the church of St John’s the Evangilist where he was due to meet with Dapo and all their guests as they arrived for the ceremony.

We always love the vibrancy and energy which accompanies nigerian wedding celebrations and this wedding was no exception, after the ceremony the customary procession of wellwishers dancing up the aisle to the bride and groom was a joy to see and the dancing bearly stopped for the rest of the day.  Photographing the bridal train, the two families each taking their turn in dancing into the wedding breakfast is always a favourite moment of ours and the space in The Porchester Hall allowed the trains the best possible entrance.  The talented singers from Elegant Entertainment provided some wonderful entertainment during the wedding breakfast performing their own act as singing waiters which delighted everyone before the evening party was started with Tara and Dapo thoroughly enjoying their first dance together.

Earle and I send our congratulations to Tara and Dapo on their marriage and wish you both a long and happy life together, we have selected some images from the day for you to enjoy while we prepare the proofs.  Please feel free to join in with our blog and leave a comment if you wish.

Sarah and Andrew’s wedding
{St Peters Church, Iver and Pinewood Hotel}

An early start for us on the motorway as we headed up to the outskirts of London to Iver, where Sarah and Andy were marrying in St Peters Church.  We knew exactly the lay of the land as we had been in the very same area for another wedding in the family earlier this year and we were really looking forward to seeing many wonderful people again.  All the preparations went to plan and Sarah was ready to leave for church in plenty of time.

Sarah and Andy’s wedding will always be remembered by Earle and me as ‘the sticky bun wedding’ owing to the entertaining sermon from Brian Griffiths, the minister conducting their ceremony.   We  have never witnessed so much laughter in a church and it set the scene beautifully for the reception celebrations over at the Pinewood Hotel

It was a great day, filled with fun and joy from beginning to end, we have had great fun choosing which are our favourite images to show here on our blog and if you would like to join in by leaving  a comment we will be delighted!   Earle and I send our very best wishes to Sarah and Andy and warmest congratulations on your marriage.

Sam and Matt’s wedding
{Heatherden Hall, Pinewood Studios}

Early start today to ensure we arrived at the Pinewood Hotel in plenty of time for Sam’s preparations with her nearest and dearest girlfriends and family.   It was yet another glorious morning and the drive up towards London was soon done giving Earle and I time for a coffee and gather our thoughts for the day ahead.

The girls were in their room, I love that time when I can just dip into all that girlie chatter and excitement, capturing the essence of the atmosphere and then moving on to quieter areas with the bride while she completes her final preparations.  Sam had a lovely bridal suite and this is where she opted to have her hair and makeup done before her mum and aunt arrived to help her into her beautiful wedding gown.

Earle and the boys met quite close by, once the boys were suited and booted they all made their way to Pinewood Studios and Heatherden Hall , the lovely manor house within the grounds of this infamous film studio.  Matt and their guests were seated in the ceremony room which looked marvellously colonial with all the french windows flung open to let a cooling breeze through whilst reavealing the calming view into the gardens,  Sam and her father followed the bridesmaids up the aisle and we all enjoyed a particularly animated and emotional ceremony.

While the guests made the most of the sunshine during the drinks reception we spent a short time with Matt and Sam to photograph them alone together around Pinewood Studios before the formal photographs were completed and the wedding breakfast was to begin.  Sam and Matt had hired the candleabras we have available and their florist had done a brilliant job of adorning them for the table centrepieces giving the ballroom a truly grand air with the wood panelling and stunning chandeliers.

As the afternoon turned to evening the weather began to change with thundery rain moving in, but this did not matter one jot as the party was due to begin with a huge number of guests arriving to join the music and dancing provided by Matt and his friends, some of London’s very best DJ’s and musicians.  Sam’s surprise for the evening (after the biggest, explosive blast of confetti during the first dance we have EVER seen) was arranged by Matt and as he introduced Mark Shaw lead singer of  ’80’s band ‘Then Jericho’ onto the stage to sing just for her…. the whole place went wild!!

Sam and Matt we send you our warmest congratulations on your marriage and a wonderful wedding day, we have chosen a few images from the day for you to enjoy while we organise your proofs.  If anyone would like to join in with our blog and leave a comment that would be great:-)

Yetunde and Deji’s wedding
{Park Plaza Victoria, London}

Early start on Saturday as we had a trip into central London to photograph an incredibly colourful and energetic nigerian wedding.  We arrived spot on time at Yetunde’s home where she was enjoying her morning with all her bridesmaids, make up artists and hair stylist,  they all made me welcome and within moments of arriving I was busy photographing all the activity.

Deji was with his family and close friends in Mayfair, so this was where Earle headed off too for a few photographs before moving onto St James the Less Church in Westminster in time for the midday ceremony.   The church eventually filled with over 250 guests,  the choir and band struck up creating a wonderful greeting for Yetunde and her brother as he walked her up the aisle to the waiting groom.

None of the usual british restraints are applicable at most of the nigerian weddings we have photographed and Yetunde’s and Deji’s wedding was no exception.  The participation from all the guests and customs during the ceremony sends a fantastic buzz throughout and any thoughts of being shy and retiring need to be banished from the mind entirely to fully appreciate the atmosphere and capture the moment.

Following the ceremony and some formal family photographs it was a short walk for us to the Park Plaza Victoria where the celebrations were to continue with the drinks reception before everyone was seated for the wedding breakfast, speeches and more dancing.  It was after dark before we were able to have time with Yetunde and Deji for some photographs of them alone together.  Yetunde had changed out of her bridal gown into traditional nigerian dress complimenting Deji who also had changed into traditional nigerian clothes.  We soon were seeing them relax and enjoy their time outside with us while the fresh night air recharged their batteries for more dancing with their guests back inside the hotel.

It was a terrific day and a joy to work closely with the wedding organiser Catherine Eluwa of SEML again.  Huge congratulations Deji and Yetunde, we are so thrilled you wanted to travel to England from the States to celebrate your wedding day with your families and very priviledged to have been part of the team contributing to your memories.  We hope you and everyone else enjoys the photographs we have chosen to give a taste of the rest.
