Award winning photography

In our years of photography we have not been avid participants in the competition arena but more recently we thought ‘well, why not give it a go?’ The upshoot of this thought pattern wound up with us entering the Wessex Region MPA awards in December 2010 and December 2011 and on both occasions we have been totally delighted to come away with awards!  In 2010 we won a second place in Fashion and Glamour and third in Wedding then in 2011 things got even better with a first place and second place in Envirionmental Portraiture which is just fantastic in itself but also gives the balance to our working relationship as we both now have won awards within this competition!!  Marital and professional bliss is maintained for another year and our personal photographic competition thrives:-)  Bring on 2012…..we are looking forward to all it offers

Chrissie and Roger’s wedding
{Brympton House, Brympton d’Evercy}

In between Christmas and New Year Earle and I photographed the very beautiful marriage of Chrissie and Roger in the wonderful Somerset countryside.  Brympton d’Evercy is located just outside Yeovil and the whole wedding day was taking place at Brympton House with the invaluable assistance of Rosie from  Wildrose Events.  Chrissie and her bridesmaids were all busy with hair and makeup, dresses and flowers when we arrived so I had a wonderful time with them photographing their progress along with what must be the most original wedding shoes I have witnessed a bride wear….silver Converse trainers!  Earle found Roger and his band of buddies to photograph their preparations and found they all had followed the ‘Converse’ theme in their individual colours and this includes Rob, Father of the Bride. 

The civil ceremony took place mid afternoon in the atmospheric Castle House and a lively drinks reception was enjoyed by everyone in the main house immediately afterwards.  It was during this time we were able to borrow Chrissie and Roger for a moment or two for some photographs away from their guests.  A superb wedding breakfast was rounded off with an incredibly entertaining bestmen speech which roused a standing ovation!!  The wedding party then moved across to the Orangery for the arrival of more friends for the evening party and music.

Autumn and Chris’ wedding
{Beaulieu Abbey and The Domus, Beaulieu}

Another glorious day in the New Forest, just perfect for Autumn and Chris’ wedding at Beaulieu Abbey and their celebrations in the cloisters and The Domus.  Earle made his way over to East Boldre, Chris’ family home for the pre ceremony photographs while I was at Carey’s Manor where Autumn and her bridesmaids and parents were preparing for the day ahead.

Beaulieu is without a doubt our favourite local venue and the beauty and history of the abbey and The Domus was fully enjoyed by everyone there but perhaps particularly Autumn’s wonderful American family and friends.  The scream of joy her bridesmaid let out when they saw the white Rolls Royce’s parked up waiting to drive them to Beaulieu was priceless and the Guard of Honor formed by British and American Navy officers outside the Abbey added that extra touch of pride for the bride and groom.

The late afternoon sunshine provided a wonderful opportunity for the location shoot by the lake in front of Palace House before everyone was due inside The Domus to enjoy the delicious food and wine, speeches and then the evening party and great entertainment.  With the party well underway we did of course nip out into the cloisters again with Autumn and Chris for those every popular after dark images we love creating.  It has been a memorable day for everyone, Earle and I send our warmest congratulations to Autumn and Chris on their marriage and a wonderful wedding day.  Please enjoy a taster of the images we have so loved capturing and leave a comment, we love hearing from you all!

Shenay and Dan’s wedding
{Rhinefield House Hotel}

It was one of those glorious October mornings in the New Forest which makes you feel completely delighted to be out and about before most other people.  The drive through Rhinefield to the hotel was stunning and a great day with Shenay and Dan was about to get started.   I met Shenay and her Mum with the bridesmaids during their preparations at Rhinefield House while Earle was meeting Dan and the boys back in Bournemouth before they made their way over to the hotel later in the morning.

The sun was streaming through the massive windows of the Great Hall as Shenay and her father walked up the aisle to Dan for the marriage ceremony and it shone brightly still for them as the day continued outside for the drinks reception and the formal family photographs which we completed before taking Shenay and Dan off into the forest for some of those all important bride and groom photographs.

We were back spot on time for Michael Judd the Master of Ceremonies to officiate over the receiving line and wedding breakfast and take care of everything right through to the first dance.  Once the party was under way we popped outside again with Shenay and Dan for a few photographs of them both in the grounds of Rhinefield House then returned to the party which was enjoying the Turkish influences of Shenay’s father and family!

Tara and Dapo’s wedding
{St John’s The Evangilist, Porchester Hall, Bayswater}

Last Saturday was another trip up the motorway to London and this time it was to photograph Tara and Dapo’s wedding and lively celebrations.  The morning began with Earle dropping me off with Tara in north London to photograph her preparations with her bridesmaids while Earle made his way south again to the church of St John’s the Evangilist where he was due to meet with Dapo and all their guests as they arrived for the ceremony.

We always love the vibrancy and energy which accompanies nigerian wedding celebrations and this wedding was no exception, after the ceremony the customary procession of wellwishers dancing up the aisle to the bride and groom was a joy to see and the dancing bearly stopped for the rest of the day.  Photographing the bridal train, the two families each taking their turn in dancing into the wedding breakfast is always a favourite moment of ours and the space in The Porchester Hall allowed the trains the best possible entrance.  The talented singers from Elegant Entertainment provided some wonderful entertainment during the wedding breakfast performing their own act as singing waiters which delighted everyone before the evening party was started with Tara and Dapo thoroughly enjoying their first dance together.

Jane and Sebastian’s wedding
{The Guildhall and Hotel Du Vin, Poole}

Jane and Sebastian’s wedding day was small on numbers but extremely big on relaxation and good, solid fun times.  We met Sebastian at the Guildhall in Poole where their wedding ceremony was taking place and their guests were assembling for the arrival of Jane and her Uncle.  The order of the day for us was to keep a low profile and just do our thing photographing the events as they unfold and with such a lovely group of people enjoying themselves this was a perfect setting for us to capture some great images both at The Guildhall and the Hotel Du Vin.
